The amazing landscape of Goreme (Cappadocia - Turkey)

Volcanic landscape. Houses hewn into the "fairy chimneys". Local legend says that the fairies put caps onto the chimneys so that further volcanoes wouldn't explode from them. They have been used for housing, worship, etc over the centuries. An amazing landscape like no other that I have ever seen. We hot air ballooned over them the next day. Will post further pics of that experience next. Ash

What unusual photos!! Those fairies did a good job for whatever reason.Ash, I think you have found another profession to move towards - photos are terrific, again!!
Janet - I am intrigued with the threading thing - will check it out on google later
