Krac des Chevaliers - a Kracking Castle (Syria) pics

Ash here. Still way behind on posts - having too good a time in Selcuk, a small town close to the Aegean coast.

Krac des Chevaliers (Castle of the Knights) a Crusader castle built over 800 years ago is much the same as it was then. Considered to be the greatest fortress in the world, "Lawrence of Arabia" called it the "finest castle in the world" and it certainly lived up to expectations. 700 m above sea level it looks across the valley between Homs and Tripoli. It was never taken by storm or siege. As you can see, the views from our hotel window were breathtaking to say the least. Even the weather rolled in to add to the drama of the occasion. Hope all is well. Ash

MAGNIFICIENT!! I am continually blown away by the raw beauty and majesty of so many of the places you a travelling to. What a marvelous intinerary you have devised, so fascinating and interesting. You are afforded delights in many different ways; culturally, historically, the physical landscape, modes of travel and the interaction with fellow travellers and locals - WOW. Can't wait to hear all about it.
No wonder you don't have time to write long blogs....and quite rightly!! Keep on being thrilled by all that you experience.
love Helen and fam. xo
