Halloween in Transylvania

Romania wasn't one of the top "places to see" on my list until $22 flights to Bucharest for Halloween weekend were published. It was definitely an unforgettable time! We stayed in the Carpathian Mountains where Cold Mountain was filmed.

We spent Thursday night in Rome to catch a flight at 8:50 Friday morning. Took a 3:30 train to arrive in Brasov, Romania at 6:30. Stayed in a hostel, went on a tour all day Saturday, then went out to eat and attend the hostel's party, stayed up to catch our 4:30AM train, arrived at Cluj at 10AM Sunday, took buses to get to the Cluj Airport, and flew into Rome at 3:30. Caught the train to Chiusi, and a taxi to Montepulciano - and here I am!!

Overall - Romanian cities are extremely depressing. Abandoned-looking buildings with busted windows, everything is gray, concrete, people are wary of outsiders, they never smile. The countryside is absolutely gorgeous, and the castles made it worth the trip! Mountains disappearing into the clouds, snow on all the trees - looked like Narnia!

Casi (best friend since kindergarten) & Savannah (best friend since 6th grade) have arrived in Rome to spend my last few weeks with me!! My dad is even on the way to hang out in Rome before doing some business in Geneva. So I won't be on the internet much, but in case of emergency call my American cell. :)

This trip has been amazing, but I do miss you all SO much.
