This will be a short entry because we only bought 15 minutes in this internet cafe. Our last day in Madrid was totally chaotic (it involved Christophers Visa being rejected, and then his card being eaten by the Spanish ATM, and then no one in the bank speaking English, and us not knowing how to use pay phones, etc etc...) but we finally got everything worked out and went to the Reina Sofia. Madrid is a nice city but there really isnt much to see there.
We took the overnight train to Lisbon, but didnt have a sleeper car this time. I sprawled out over two seats and Christopher sufficed with one seat, but we both woke up with sore sore bodies. Luckily we wont have to do that again.
Lisbon is beautiful! Its warm and kind of a mix of Italy and Croatia. We walked down the main thoroughfare today and shopped a bit, walked down to the sea, etc. We just grabbed a sandwich and some coffee and were going to head... somewhere! We arent sure yet. Thats the magic of it.
Our hotel is pretty nice, the staff are somewhat stuffy (though we suspect it's because we're young). We have a real shower, which Suzanne had trouble figuring out (no matter what tap I turned on, it was always scalding hot!!)
Tomorrow we are seeing the old town sights and then the market on Saturday morning, then we take the train to Porto.
Talk to you all soon! (We would say goodbye in Portuguese but we have no idea how. They speak English here! Yay!)
