Time for an update - where are we at...today we moved out of our family home of 22 years to a temporary address in Mangawhai, which is about 1.5 hours north of Auckland. It was sad but also enlightening to leave the house as this has been the place we have raised our children and the central location of our lives since moving to Auckland but our change of life is not able to factor in the retention of the property as it was too big and the two of us and our old dog Edwin were already rattling around it. The news from Oz is so far all good. The truck we have bought is (according to Des a member of our extended family, and the keeper of it) performing well and we have also had advice from the company we have bought the caravan from that it has arrived and is ready to go. We are now at a sorting out stage in terms of money and the logistics of travelling to Oz as well as ensuring we see some special people before we leave. We also have to say goodbye to Edwin our old dog. This will be a sad day but we reconcile ourselves that he is not in good shape and has lost most of his quality of life being nearly blind and deaf with severe arthritus and doggy heaven will give him the rest he needs from this life. So, in just under two weeks we will be heading to Auckland in preparation to catching our flight to Brisbane and from there the Oz part of this adventure and change of life will begin.
