Winter In australia, brisbane. A night Out, a summer dress, heels, 1 coat or cardigan
Winter In Europe, Utrecht. A night out, a singlet, shirt, 1 light jumper, 1 cardigan, 1 pair of tights, 1 pair of thick socks, 1 pair of jeans, winter coat, scarf, mitten, Beanie and ugg boots!!
My first winter in EUROPE!! I knew it would be tough but no idea how tough!! I feel like I went to hell and back! Of course it had be be the hardest winter in over 40 years, half my luck!! Interestingly the coldest day/night was Australia day minus 16 degrees! WOW. Just walking my feet were stone cold, definately a strange way to celebrate that day of the year when usually I am in bikinis playing cricket!
My coldest moment, NYE in Berlin! A group of us walk to a park in Berlin to do the special count down, fresh snow on the ground, the drinks don't help my co ordination walking, everyone is going down! then Of course arm in arm with my boyfriend.. we go down!! Midnight and then a snow blizzard hits.. no transport is running, we walk in this for 3 hours, my body was so tense, my ugg boots are completely wet through to my socks.. arrrh!!!! Bloody freezing.
The SNOW.. I saw snow before in australia but only on mountains. What an experience to see it in normal city life. It is really something i will never forget. The first day we walked through the snow, so much snow that cars had difficulty driving, the buses stopped running. Snow everywhere, so beautiful. Everyone was outside making snow men/ snow caves! a Lovely moment. The snow lasted weeks, every time it melted and thought it was over, it would snow some more.
My favourite Moment. My first white christmas. A beautiful day waking up and seeing the snow.. a tick off my to do list!
The winter is behind me now and I watch as the spring arrives. Daffodils are sprouting up everywhere, cherry blossom trees are full of pink. The sun is out and everyone is appreciating it, sitting out side every moment that is possible. It was like living with the lights off for a few months now the lights are back on and I can't wait to celebrate through the summer!
