This weekend was the Singapore National Day so Monday was a Bank Holiday. I took Friday and the saturday morning off from work and flew up to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday after work to meet a friend Ling from Oxford who lives near there, and 3 of her friends who are travelling in Malaysia at the moment. Lena from Singapore also came up but just for the Friday (!!). Today is Monday and I've just got back. By complete coincidence, my flat mate and I both caught the same coach back to Singapore as well - having planned trips to Malaysia completely separately.
I'd always wanted to see the Petronas Twin Towers (just look at the night time photo to see why) and if you get there early enough in the morning you can have a free tour up to the sky-bridge, half way up the building that links the two towersd. It's the bridge they used in the film Entrapment.
One tower is used by Petronas, a Malaysian oil company, and the other is used by a load of other companies.
So we got there at 7.30am and joined the 100 people already in the queue. 15 minutes later and the whole queueing room was full. We got on the first trip up at 9am which was great because the 1700 tickets they give out each day go really fast.
The building itself is the main attraction rather even though the view is very good (the bridge is half way up the towers - the view from the top must be incredible). The towers are clad in aluminium making them definietly in the catagory of "the most impressive buildings in the world." At night they light them up and the lights reflect off the aluminium bands that run around all the floors. Really worth getting up early for - and then going to see again at night.
