To the coast

On Sunday morning we had a nice Irish 'fry-up', complete with white pudding and black pudding - much to Sharon's disgust! :)

We decided we were going to visit Kinsale, which is a seaside town on the south-eastern coast of Ireland, about an hour from Cork.

We went for a walk around Cork while we waited for the bus to Kinsale, and climbed a hill to get a good view over the city. I don't think we would have done this walk if we knew how much more we were going to walk in that day.

When we got to Kinsale, we decided to visit the Charles Fort, one of two old forts that guard the entrance to Kinsale harbour.

We could have caught a 'train' there (which was actually a stupid little car made to look like a train) but they wanted 7 euro one way! So we marched off indignantly to walk there ourselves. Stupid train-cars.

It took us a good 40 minutes, but we got there. It was good that we walked, we got to see all the really cool houses that are built along the sides of Kinsale Harbour. Talk about rich!

The fort was amazing, check out the pictures.

Our flight back wasn't until 9:30pm, so it was a bit of a mission on the way back home. It was after midnight when we got home. Sharon had to work the next day!

By the way, I forgot to mention in the last post that Murphy's stout is awesome. Beamish is also good. Never thought I would be too much into the stout, but it is really good - totally smooth with no bitterness. And it grows hairs on your chest. Supposedly.

7 euors...just pay the little train man his money. Remember what happened when we didn't pay the over snow transport man his money.
