Thursday we all loaded up in the bus and two vehicles and headed back to Tegucigalpa. Jared was driving Jill, DJ and I in Tito's land cruiser. It is a pretty scary drive along the mountains trying not to fall off the cliff and then in the city trying not to get run over! Jared did a great job. We did get pulled over by the police, however. None of us could understand what he was saying so Jared just kept saying "Si, si..". I guess the police officer realized it was useless communicating with us so he just laughed and waved us on. Phew!
We stopped for dinner in a town called the City of Angels. The restaurant was really nice and had the typical Honduran foods : ). The town is a tourist area with tons of souvineer shops that we took advantage of. DJ made sure to buy a machete and load up on authentic Honduran coffee!
We drove for another hour and arrived in Tegucigalpa at the Agape Church where Tito and Wendy attend. The building is still under construction but it is a really nice church as far as its potential and ability to serve. They plan on starting a school in the church in February. Although they don't have any teachers yet and some of the rooms are not finished, they are confident that God will provide!
The church held a special service for us which was in english and spanish and many members attended. Chris Disch preached from James about perseverence in the faith. It was a great time and the people there were really nice.
The team slept in a few of the classrooms except for us. Tito and Wendy decided to let DJ and I stay in a small apartment that was attached to the church because we hadn't seen each other all month and had little time together throughout the trip. It was really sweet of them to do this for us and we really appreciated to get to at least have a little time together.
