Museums

We have recently taken the opportunity to visit two of London's great museums: the British Museum and the Natural History Museum.

We were surprised that both of these are both free admission, and you can take as many pictures as you like inside!

The British Museum is in a magnificent old building with a huge translucent dome in the centre of it. It is massive and I reckon you would probably need about three visits to get around it all. Some of things we saw included the Parthenon sculptures (the subject of an ongoing international disagreement between the UK and Greece) and an impressive Egyptian section including many delightfully disgusting mummies.

We spent a few hours getting around the most interesting parts before some alarm went off and everybody was evacuated from the museum. We were pretty much all museumed out by that point anyway.

The Natural History Museum is again in a fantastic building. I am sure that I have seen the main entrance area in a few movies. It is more focused on the science side of things - it has the best dinosaur exhibits.

Check out the pictures - there are some good ones.
