BRIGHTON

Met a girl around my own age, and this time I can remember what we talked about and did.  It seems like drinking alone at a bar does eventually end in new friends if you hang out and look depressed long enough.  I might write a book about it.

1) Examine your drink and then nod at how much you have left often.

2) Smile awkwardly at the bartender and raise your eyebrows when you'd like another drink and she's having an engaging conversation you would like to interrupt.

3) Everytime you start a new drink, think "this will be the last one before I head home."

4) Everytime you finish that drink, think "well, maybe one more...i haven't tried [whatever drink that last guy/girl at the bar bought]."

5) Smoke other people's cigarettes.  Cigarettes are a gateway to friendship.

Brighton is England's seaside resort town, and has been for over 200 years.  There's a giant castle here that has a Russian feel to its outside (what with Onion domes), but inside it's all Chinese art and architecture which was popular at the time of King George the IV (who sounds like a royal badass).  The Pavillion (as many people call the castle and it's surrounding area) contains a giant dining hall with a chandelier weighing just over 1 ton carried by a stone dragon.

I talked with a man named Billy all about how Brighton is the most cosmopolitan place in England.  I'm not sure I agree, but Billy was very convincing.  He works as the head of security at one of Brighton's two "unis" and explained about how the education system in England is changing and that students will now have to pay roughly 9000 pounds for school.

Billy also told me about Princess Anne, who also sounds like a royal badass, only she's alive.  He said she would have a pint with us and tell us to call her Anne rather than her majesty or something else.  He also let me know that women like to shop.
