Hi Blavellers!
I thought that I would post an outline of some travel we are organising at the moment. Due to one thing or another we have actually decided to leave England and return home (home being Brisbane, Australia) for a short while. I don't feel quite ready to leave the UK yet but due to stupid and antiquated visa systems which require one to jump through all the hoops again when ones passport/visa was stolen one does not feel inclined to pay the UK government again for a visa one technically already has!
So... as a result J and I are flying out of London on 4 August and we'll be backpacking our way through Europe for 2 months. We then fly back to London on 30 Sep and out of London again on 1 Oct and we'll be spending some time in Singapore before arriving home on 6 Oct.
Our itinerary at the moment is:
London - Istanbul - Santorini - Dubrovnik/Split (Croatia) - Venice - Verona - Munich - Berlin/Spree Forest - Copenhagen - Amsterdam - Belgium - Paris - Marseille - Barcelona - Madrid - Seville - Lisbon - London - Singapore - Brisbane
It is going to be a very budget trip but super exciting all the same! I am really excited about visiting Turkey, the Greek Islands and Croatia. Turkey because I think it'll be so different to what I have already seen and I just LOVE Turkish food, the Greek Islands because, well, it's the Greek Islands (!) oh and Santorini is basically a volcano which I find fascinating and Croatia because it's supposed to have really beautiful beaches and islands. I love the European towns and cities for all the history and architecture but I am really longing for some natural beauty as well.
Most of the big things have been booked so just working out the smaller details now. I am absolutely determined to pack lightly and smartly so I shall see how that goes! I am currently searching for a really good holdall on wheels mostly because it's more light weight and I can either wheel it or carry it over my shoulder and because it's narrower than a suitcase so easier to take on buses (thanks J's parents for the tip!).
So that's it! If anyone has tips of good but cheap hostels to stay in any of the places I mentioned we'd love your comments!
Hope to update you soon.
x Sharon
