Today Guada and Angelo took us to see the Palacio Gobierno where the president lives. (Well where he would normally live except that the current president decided to live outside of Quito for safety reasons.) Anyway, he is there during the day carrying out business. We waited outside for about 30 minutes until a group of about 20 of us was let in. About halfway through our tour a door opened behind us and out walked the President Rafael Correa. He stopped and talked with our group for a few minutes, posing for pictures etc. He asked Ashley and I where we were from and made some joke about Jimmy Carter that neither of us really understood. We got some pretty cool pictures and Guada was beside herself with excitement. How many world leaders have you met today?
We can´t upload the pictures because the computer we are using does not have the right software, but I am putting them on my facebook (andrew) and we will upload when we get the chance...
