the crossing from peru to ecuador was suprisingly easy, given the horror stories we had been told. We crossed late at night...or early in the morning. it was dark in any case. the bus terminated at Loja at 5 in the morning and we (all 9 of us) immediatly jumped on anothe rone to vilcabamba, a tiny little town surrounded by natural parks and rainforests, and known for having the oldest people in the world live there. we went to a hostel as near to the terminal as possible as we were exhausted and slept for hours in a 19 bed dorm!!it looked so funny! when we woke up we went to the mopst pathetic zoo known to mankind. it wa called a minizoo, but all it had were a few chickens, some pigeons and an ostrige. WORST EVER!!!
we also organsied activities for the next day. we all (beside john and dave) decided to go horse riding, as yuou cold ride to a waterfall and the scenery along the way was meant to be amazing.
that night amy cooked us all a HUGE roast dinner with chicken, potatoes, grilled veg, gravy and more. we all agreed it was the best meal we had eaten in months!!
the next mronng we set out on our horses. we had a really cool guide who wanted us to go fast fast fast!!! a few of us were a bit scared, but once you get into the motion of riding its quite easy. we were riding up huge mountains, and down them....which was harder coz you felt like you were going to go off the horse!!! the horses were soooo beautiful and really weel trained. we all even got a couple of gallops by the end of the day. after horseriding we jumped on abus (no showering) and headed to our next destination!!!
