Had a fantastic time in Bayern (Bavaria) with AnkoNick's family.
We stayed for five nights with Nick's Tante (aunty) Johanna, in her gorgeous house in Unterbachern, about 30 minutes out of Munchen (Munich) and 5 minutes from Dachau, with beautiful countryside all around. Despite her lack of english skills and our lack of german, we managed to communicate fairly well and all was good. Nick's cousins took us out; first to Munich city (including Hofbrauhaus, lol) and to the Munchen Residence, and also an authentic Bayern biergarten. On the weekend, we visited King Ludwig the 2nd's most famous castle, Neuschwanstein, which was very beautiful (you'll recognise this one from the disney logo) and on Sunday we were taken on a huge hiking trip in south Bayern; I'll attach some pictures of the beautiful canyons and scenery that we viewed on this trip; despite the five hours of walking time (!), it was well worth it and our favourite part of the Bavarian trip. I caught a cold in Amsterdam which meant that I was a little run-down throughout the time in Bayern, and given the huge schedule made for us by Nick's relatives I didn't have too much time to sleep the cold off, lol, but we're now heading to Berlin so hopefully we'll get some rest before hitting the town. Tante Johanna threw a gartenparty for us on Sunday night, and we met most of the other relatives during the party. We had a fantastic time, looking forward to returning when we're back this way.
