For the most part this was a travel day. In retrospect, Quebec was quite nice. Ottawa is even more vibrant and alive. Linda planned this leg of the trip. Yesterday. Via computer from our hotel room. We weren't certain what we were going to do after Quebec. Spent most of the day travelling to Ottawa, the Canadian Capital. We travelled along the St. Lawrence river for part of the journey.
We crawled through Montreal. Traffic jam. 2:30 pm. Would have hated to try to cross that city at 5:00pm. We ran into a bit of a traffic jam the last 10 miles coming into Ottawa. Our hotel, the Business Inn, is a local enterprise that is a building of converted apartments into business hotel suites. Very reasonable rate. Very nice accomodations (at least to folks like us). Our hotel is again in the middle of an eclectic neighborhood. Lots of Bistro's sidewalk cafe's, etc. These places were all full. Temperature is 82 degrees. We received excellent advice from someone to try an English Pub, the Manx. Linda contends that this was the best meal she has ever had in a restaurant. It was really good food. We talked to another couple, John and Hillary Hay. They were quite engaging. Meeting them really made our evening. It was truly a pub experience, complete with a chat up. We wandered around our neighborhood after dinner, taking in the sights and sounds. As much fun as this has been, we've decided to make a run for the states tommorrow. We hope to spend the night in Michigan tommorrow night. Our goal is to be in a position to get to Chicago on Saturday, spend the night there and get home sometime on Sunday. This has been a very good trip for Linda and I. We've had an opportunity to "interview" each other as travel buddies. So far, we're generally compatible. It appears that we'll try this again.
