Today we packed up from our spacious (not really) furnished apartment and hit the road North to visit my parents for the weekend. Packing all our crap proved to be a more time consuming task than originally thought! We had to take the slowest elevator in Bellevue 6 floors down to the car. I think we went up and down a million times. And try getting a 7 year old to help! The moaning and groaning was horrendous. And all efforts in that endeavour were shortly abandoned.
Our cars are packed ridiculously full - literally to the roof. Some of it is stuff we are dropping up in Canada for my parents to ship out or drive out later. Don't think I will have much need for winter wear until at least October (hopefully!). So, the trip up to BC was a very cramped journey. Dogs on top of each other and kids crammed in the back.
Getting out of Seattle was a nightmare. I thought everyone left yesterday or early this morning to go wherever it is they were going for Memorial weekend. Apparently some had the same idea as us - to try and get out of town around 1pm. Seattle's farewell present to us I guess. Once the traffic cleared, it was pretty good going. We had a late lunch at Jack-in-the-Box. So good...but we have to remember to eat better going forward or our stomachs just may turn against us.
We'll be in Abbotsford until Tuesday, when the journey East really begins. Already watched a Hockey game and had a Miller High Life or two. Gotta love family time.
