Just this weekend my sister, mum and I spent a wonderful weekend together in Brisbane. Because I am flying to the UK to live for two years in 7 weeks time (!!!) my sister and mum thought we would spoil ourselves! So we checked into MacArthur Chambers which is a very beautiful old building in Brisbane. It has an interesting history and was redecorated between 1931 and 1934. My favourite was the marble staircase and the interesting old world looking light fixtures. We had an awesome room that had 3, yes 3 bathrooms!
After we checked in we did what all girls would do on a girls weekend away... we had our nails done! Deborah's nails did a wonderful job thank you ladies and after that we bought some trashy mags and did our best to catch up on gossip in our gorgeous apartment.
Having caught up on all the goss however we then meandered to the Regent Theatre in Queen St which I couldn't find a picture of but which I love for it's over the top ceiling and wall mosaics to watch Mamma Mia. Wow, that is such a fun movie! I was very skeptical because I'm not totally into the chick flick thing but seriously, this movie was so so so fun! It made me want to dance and sing which is pretty unusual because I can't do either but it also made me want to move to Greece which I am seriously considering!!!
Anyway, after having gorged ourselves on popcorn and ice-cream we found a table at Pane e Vino's restaurant which was really noisy but the food was delicious. I had a simple chicken and char grilled vegetable dish, my sister had a seafood salad and mum had a seafood risotto. We all agreed it was exactly what we felt like especially after having tiramisu and gelati for dessert! Yum!
So by this time it was getting pretty late and because of my gorgeous sister's 'only 5 weeks to go' baby bump we thought we'd take advantage of the comfortable apartment once again. So we talked and gossiped as only a mum and her daughters can do until really late that night. In the morning we wandered down to (I think) the Pig 'n' Whistle (?) for a nice brekky and then we went home!
I've posted some pictures from the internet but sadly we all forgot our cameras! :(
Hopefully I'll be posting entries soon of some really old buildings much older than the 1930's but until then, see ya!
