Robina (Ian and Diane’s place) 27/09/2009 – 30/09/2009

Sunday we took up an offer from Diane and Ian to go and stay with them for a few nights and as they have a vacant section just across the road from their house it seemed an appropriate place to put the van as we would not have to go far for stuff and sorting the odd issue would be very easy.  With the van nicely sited on the section we settled in for a very nice stay in a “real” house with heaps of room and excellent company.

Monday we picked up the TV and did some other shopping including getting a few more books to add to the reading collection started down the process of trying to get the broken window of the van sorted.  Not was easy as it should have been due to some confusion as to who the warranty was with so it was not until Tuesday that we had the information we needed to proceed with a permanent repair.  In the meantime Ross and Ian went about replacing the broken rivets so that at least we could open and close the window again but the complete fix is replacement of the catches themselves.  Something we have to sort out further down the line with Camec – the manufacturers.

Ian and Diane have a lovely house and section with a nice pool and if you sit outside with food then a group of very cheeky butcher birds show up and want their share but we neglected to oblige them. While we were there Paula showed up with her new baby Caprice so Carol and Grandad Ian fussed over her.  She is so cute and apparently such an easy baby in terms of feeding and sleeping and the like.

While there we went shopping in the latest section of the Robina Town shopping complex and came across our first experience of an electronically managed car park in that each park has a sensor and light indicating if available or used (Green free, Red in use) and then directional arrows showing how many free parks were in which direction.  Somewhat confusing to start with but as the park was very full it made finding a free space quite easy.

Well the days and nights seemed to go so quickly and it was a good break from travelling but after getting heaps of little jobs and shopping done and having a relaxing time generally it was time to move on otherwise we will never get around this island.
