Well, there is always an element of excitement when preparing for an overseas trip. It can and does from time to time associate itself with pain. The past couple of months has seen Marg and I suffering from the aftermath of dental appointments, flue shots, typhoid, hepatitis A and B stabs with more to come once we arrive home in June.
The excitement of making arrangements with our travelling partners Don and Lyn, coordinating the flights and stays and the frustrations of trying to link the flight times so as not to make us all so tired has been quite a challenge. Once again "our hat goes off" the Kylie from Globenet Travel for her efficient and painless attention to detail as far as we are concerned.
This holiday has been designed to attempt to allow us more time to relax and take it all in with as much centralised accommodation as possible. In 2007 we lived out of suitcases with daily pack-ups in many cases. This time with the 3 days in a hotel in Kowloon, the 4 days on the Nile, the 15 days on the Danube Rhine, 4 days on a narrowboat and a week in a timeshare in Scotland. We should be able to unpack our bags and live fairly normal lives for a substantial part of the trip.
The beauty of this trip is that we are going to places that neither Marg nor I have really been to before.
We had a trial bag pack today and following that I spent a great deal of the time scanning documents, de-fragging the laptop ready for the trip, loading up the latest virus buster and general cleaning up the system.
I am looking forward to putting Grimesies Blavel to the test.... in fact, that is the main purpose of this post. If I can do it, then it is "top" marks for you Johnno! (Later update...I have read your re-sizing of images using BIMP Lite and it seems a "piece of cake". it is just that I don't really have any suitable to add to this post. I did your simple map link though....now that is easy!)
We have had a great deal of rain here at Wellington Point this last week or so and just looking at Hong Kong, it appears as though they are getting much of the same. Hopefully, 2 weeks will change that.
Well, that just about does it for now. The next post will be after the 23rd when we head off.
Bye for now....Ian (and Marg)
